Join Mich and the Seals in lovely Monterey to practice your scat singing syllable drills! In this video you’ll work on syllables that contain Ghost Notes, and these are a fundamental part of jazz articulation. Without ghost notes – you will never really sound jazz authentic.
Ghost notes are notes that occuring on a consonant, like “n” and “l” and have little or no vowel. Examples are “n” and “l,” but there are others also. Ghost notes provide rhythmic definition and vitality, and they DO have a small bit of pitch. Jazz scatting would not sounds correct if you DIDN’T use some ghost notes!
